I think My Blog May Be Dead

Well, after spending some time attempting to load photos with "The New Blogger", I have discovered that I cannot.  If I drag and drop, I eventually get an empty "photo box" in my post that disappears completely when I move the cursor.

The uploader consistently take several minutes to load (like 12 minutes or more), and the photo selection never displays in the uploader window (43kb jpg file).  If I select the blank image box in the uploader window, I get the little "something is happening" thingy for several minutes, then it stops, the select button is de-selected, and no image ever appears.

Also, the legacy Blogger option has vanished.

I'll try again in a week or so and see what happens.

Best of luck to everyone, stay healthy. out there.

  1. Oh that sucks, another blogger was posting about not being able to access the new format with his laptop. Maybe drop a line to their customer service?

    1. I've been sending feedback, as I've encountered a bunch of things that don't work, or sometimes don't display or display incorrectly. We'll see what happens.

  2. I haven't experienced the failure to upload photos, but I do agree that the "New Blogger" is a mess; it runs slow, has all sorts of annoying "features" and takes forever to do anything. I complained from the beginning about it when they started the Beta version but I'm sure that they never even looked at the user input.

Are you loading the pictures directly from a folder in your computer? Blogger will allow me to do that but not from my Samsung Galaxy 9.

    1. Yes, that is what I'm trying to do. Whether I use the uploader or drag and drop (as I used to do), the image never displays.

On my iphone, the entire post can only be the size of the text editor box on the screen, as blogger won't allow me to scroll the post in the editor.

  3. OOOOOH! Sad news. This idiotic fashion for new design on blogs and Facebook.
I look forward to every new message from you, master, with great impatience. I myself also thought about a new platform for messages

    1. Thank you. I'm considering trying out Wordpress, and will link it here is I do.

I haven't totally given up hope here yet, they could fix it, or I may find a device that doesn't have problems with it.

    2. Hope you find something that works and you can continue blogging. Someone posted in comments on another thread I read that wordpress has a gadget to import blogger content. He uses/used it for backing up his blogger stuff.

  4. Definitely not keen on the new blogger thing...why fix it if it isn't broken?!

  5. I had to turn on comment moderation, I can't keep up with the spam. Sorry. They need to allow batch deletions of these.

  6. You can insert &useLegacyBlogger=true into your link to get access to the blog in the traditional way... at least for now.

It would be tragic if you stopped blogging all together, so glad to hear you are also looking at other locations.

  7. What everyone else has said, keep on blogging.

I've had some problems uploading pictures too, but after retrying they went up

PS: I don't know if it's still a thing, but I make sure all my images are less than 1mb. It keeps things flowing.

    1. I just tried to load and post a 43kb image and it did't work. It actually has gotten worse, now the post editor doesn't even place the image "box" after loading.

  8. My photographs seem to load OK most of the time but there is the odd occasion where it loads all but one and then just stops and I have to close it down. I agree it used to be better. Now I have to manually resize every image to stop it disappearing off the edge of the post. And what happened to the spellchecker? Does no-one care about correct spelling any more?!
