Operation Barbarossa: World War II Campaign

Operation Barbarossa Campaign: The German invasion of Russia June 22 1941

Linked below will be posts relating to my Barbarossa campaign.  The strategic campaign is built around Frank Chadwick's "Barbarossa 25" bathtub campaign booklet of 1988, with the tactical miniatures battles using my homebrew rules with units represented at 1 to 1 for vehicles and infantry based as squads, fire teams, or weapon crews.

Only German, Romanian, and Soviet forces will be used as I don't have Finnish or Hungarian forces in miniature.

I've reconstituted detailed TO&Es (for 1 to 1 representationon the table top) using a combination of sources including MicroMark Army Lists, German WWII Organizational Series by Leo Niehorster, and various other sources as needed.

I've made a few alterations to the orders of battle from the original Barbarossa 25 booklet, most notably including several different Soviet Brigade structures, including one with T-35 heavy tanks, as I have the miniatures and simply want to put them on the table.

Air to air combat will be played out using Lacquered Coffins rules, but otherwise, tactical air operations will use my homebrew rules system.

Most of the battles will be played with 6mm miniatures from Heroics and Ros, Scotia Grendel, C in C, GHQ, and I-94 Enterprises/Raiden.  Some smaller fights will be played with 15mm minatures from just about every manufacturer available over the last 34 years, including QRF, Quality Castings, Old Gory, Peter Pig, Gaming Models, and Battlefront.

The maps from GDW's Fire in the East will be used for the strategic portion of the game, using custom made counters representing the forces in the orders of battle.

Links including background, status reports, and most importantly, after action reports will be listed chronlogically below:
